Practical Concealed Carry Course / NRA Defensive Pistol

 The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the skills, and attitude to carry a concealed pistol with confidence. After this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following:  safe gun handling when carrying a concealed firearm, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, mental awareness, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and a NRA Defensive Pistol certificate. This course is only conducted by NRA Certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.


Class starts at 8:00 am – One-hour lunch - We will try to finish by 5:00 pm

PA Hunter & Trapper Education Course
This is a multi-day training class for any person who is required to complete the mandatory Hunter-Trapper Education training program before purchasing their first Hunting or Fur taking license.


NOTE: YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 11 YEARS OLD TO REGISTER FOR CLASS
***Attendees DO NOT need a gun of any kind for class.***

Special Instructions for All Students

Please study Chapters 1 (Intro to Hunter & Trapper Education), chapter 4 (Wildlife & Conservation Management), chapter 5 (Outdoor Safety) and 9 (Basic Shooting Skills) in Today's Hunter & Trapper in Pennsylvania before the course. These topics are not covered in the day's teaching but are included on the final test. It is best to familiarize yourself with the entire book, but chapters 1, 4, 5 & 9 must be covered at home. Feel free to ask questions on these topics the day of the course if you need help.

TRAINING

Basics of Pistol Shooting
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course consists of a classroom session and a hands-on portion conducted at our range under the guidance and supervision of our NRA-Certified Instructors. The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. Some of the topics in the course include gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting, and pistol maintenance. During the live-fire portion of the course, Instructors will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; and a final shooting qualification.​


Class starts at 8:00 am - One-hour lunch - We will finish by 5:00 pm

NOTE: All shooting is done on our indoor range. Please bring 100 rounds of all                lead or full metal jacket ammo for your pistol.​ No Magnum loads please.

Trappers Training School  (***FREE***)

District 11, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Trappers Association and also Mill Creek Sportsmen's Association, is offering a day of instruction with expert trappers of Muskrat, Mink, Raccoon, Beaver, Fox, Coyote, and more.

8AM - 1PM or Until Completed 

Be prepared to participate by wearing appropriate clothing and hip boots.
